Forms of prayer

There are many different forms of prayer

Prayer is intercession

We share the burden of Christ for a person, circumstance or need anywhere in the World ...become a partaker od Christ's suffering ..we may not know the exact need but the Holy Spirit does

Simeon had qualities of intercession Luke 2: 25-39

Devout ...given to prayer

Patient

Full of the Holy Spirit

Trusted ..faithful in waiting

Man of vision ... He saw more in Jesus than his parents

We are included in the realisation of his will ...we become part of the fulfilment of God's plans

We are salt ... Ambassadors ...can't let evil take control

As we mature as Christians we realise we have responsibilities with the privilege 

Priests ..intercede for the people

We exercise Gid's authority ...Satan (the God of this age) we must fight for control of the Kingdom ...Moses had to keep his hands lifted ...intercession  ...fellowship of his suffering Phil 3:10

I am the door ...Jesus is access to the father

God has made us members of his body ..the head functions through the body ...prayers of intercession to open doors ... Understanding ....spiritual forces ...revelation ...he that has ears!

As we develop our relationship with Christ we begin to feel what he feels

Prayer is devotion

Thou shalt find him iff thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul Deut 4:29

There is a void that can't be filled by anything but genuine communication with God ...purpose to life, nourishing the core of our soul

Adam was physical before being spiritual ..that was lost via sin ...Abram given the chance to have fellowship of the faithful ... Worship became ritual ... So God took initiative again with Jesus

He is a living being that seeks our fellowship ...not a resource centre ...in spirit and in truth ..the father seekers such to worship him John 4:23

Love requires satisfaction through fellowship and communion

In him are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge Col2:3

It takes discipline and effort to live your life at the doorpost of the Lord ....

For whoso finds me finds life Prov 8:33-35

Prayer is petition

Must learn to ask ...with prayers that proceed from the heart

Ask in faith

Abide in a relationship with Christ

Be motivated ...so that God glorified

Ask in accordance with God's will

God gives in abundance ...ask him to increase our visions and dreams ...ask for the gift that causes you to have the greatest effect on your situation

The 3 types of prayer: introduction

Jesus lead by example and created a desire for the disciples to pray

Hallowed be thy name ...begin with praise ..... Expectation ...thy kingdom come ..... Petition ...give us this day our daily bread ....confession ...forgive us our sins ....trusting.... Deliver us from evil

Ask, seek and find ...the door will be opened

Your personal response to prayer

It creates a personal change in your life ..nothing can benefit you more ....spiritually, mentally and physically! Prayer creates an atmosphere in which we can prosper

Some prayers require repetition Luke 11:8 ... Don't give up ..Daniel did not ...let the balance sheet of prayer be heavily in your favour!

Prayer can overcome anxiety and stress ... Trust God ..many illnesses caused by anxiety, prayer tackles cause as well as the effect ... Give the anxiety to God ...peace that passes all understanding ...rely on your external resources ...not the I will do it myself generation.

Prayer produces spiritual understanding ... More aware of spiritual reality ..door to intimate relationship with Holy Spirit

Prayer and the Holy Spirit

This is the age of the Holy Spirit ...prophecy of John

Only become aware of his nature as we enter a life of prayer ...the comforter ...he brings into our hearts peace...irrespective of circumstances ...we can walk in truth and peace

HS is a personality not an experience, you need to spend time talking with him... Needed for mental, spiritual and physical renewal

If prayers are empty and not refreshing ...not fellowship ping with HS

Born again ..HS enters, but need relationship to receive fullness of HS

Ministry gifts:

Meditating prayer will develop them ...apostles, prophets, teachers ...miracles, healing, helps, governments and languages

Manifestations of the HS: for every Christian ...for everyone to be edified .... Wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, discerning, tongues and interpretation ...to build the entire group.....prayer develops motivation of love which keeps all gifts in proper order

Spiritual sensitivity...can understand God's word in new and greater dimension

" but the natural man receive the not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" 1 Cor 2:14 .... Word of God belongs to a higher dimension than the natural wisdom and understanding .. Spiritual dimension impossible to comprehend without HS 

Dependency on God increases spiritual dependency...launch out in faith after prayer
